American Military Unprepared for another conflict
While the U.S. military is developing "the best counterinsurgency force in the world" they are not prepared to fight a large-scale conventional war, generals told Congress.
We have to temper that with the knowledge that the military brass was seeking billions of dollars in increased funding at the time.
The truth is probably not as dire as they made out, but they are counting on the fear factor.
If we truly made an effort to get rid of the waste in the Pentagon, we could afford a buildup without more appropriations. But that makes too much sense.
